In literacy this week we will be looking at advice and writing a letter to a family member giving them some advice. We will then continue reading the story and write a diary entry either as the Princess or the Musician about what has happened to us and how we feel.
As we finish the book we will do some role play and finally work on writing an alternative ending to the story.
In grammar we will be focussing on pronouns.
In maths this week we will continue with long division for the beginning of the week, eventually moving on to word problems in multiplication and division.
After that we will move onto negative numbers; ordering and sequencing them and learning the rules for adding and subtraction.
In RE we will be moving onto our new topic looking at Advent to Christmas.
We will be carrying on with the Victorians this half term and moving onto transport and the different types of transport that were available or invented during the Victorian era. We will then look at the significance of the steam engine during the Industrial Revolution and how it helped to join cities together.
We will be moving onto our new topic in Science for this half term; light. We will recap our understanding of light and then look at our eyes and how we can see things.
In PE we will be starting our new topic; hockey.
We will begin by looking at the equipment and how to use it and basic skills.
In Year 6 we are very lucky to have two student teachers who are going to be with Year 6 until Christmas; Miss Samra (6B), Miss Maycock (6A) so please say hello when you see them.
