Celebrating  50 Years of our School

Tennis Festival

On the 22nd of June Dukes Meadows Golf & Tennis in Chiswick teamed up with the London Borough of Hounslow and Sports Impact to host to the 4th annual Hounslow Schools Tennis Festival.

The event gives 500 primary school children, from 50 Hounslow schools the opportunity to represent their school over 628 matches and 19 rounds of tennis. The whole event lasted for 3 hours, across 9 tennis courts. The winner gets to represent Hounslow at the Schools Games finals later this year.

Pete Lammas, PE and school sport specialist for Sport Impact, said: “This morning the kids all played against other kids they didn’t know, had lots of fun, enjoyed competitive tennis and now they’re friends. It is an amazing day for all the children to be part of such a large competition using the brilliant facilities at Dukes Meadows Golf & Tennis.”

The Hounslow Schools Tennis Festival is the largest tennis festival in the south of England and this year was won by Spring Grove Primary School taking home the winner’s trophy. We were very honoured to have the mayor of Hounslow Cllr. Ajmer Grewal who presented the trophy to the winning team.

Dukes Meadows School's outreach tennis programme, which has been running for over 4 years, provides free tennis coaching to children in the borough teaching them the skills required to play the game. The programme runs both in the morning and the afternoon for 38 weeks of the year.

In 2013 Dukes Meadows Golf & Tennis along with Sports Impact set a new World Record of 674, for “The most people bouncing tennis balls on tennis racquets, breaking the existing record of 657. We then broke yet another record in 2014 for the largest Tennis lesson of over 700 kids with the support from Judy Murray.
